GUIDELINES
Every year, MadCat seeks to find and exhibit provocative and visionary works that are original in their use of the medium. MadCat is committed to showcasing women directors who challenge the use of sound and image and explore notions of visual story telling. MadCat sets itself apart from other women's festivals by curating its programs thematically and thus accepting a range of films about many different topics.
OVERVIEW
MadCat accepts films and video of all lengths and genres: experimental, narrative, documentary, animation, collage and whatever else you can think of. MadCat also accepts pieces produced in any year. Our only parameter is that the films and videos are directed by or co-directed by women.
NEW and EXCITING CHANGES AFOOT!
MadCat has been revamped and there are exciting changes in store for both filmmakers and audiences. The Festival will expand its touring program and make all of the curated programs available to venues across the United States and beyond. We aim to reach a broad swath of audiences with this exciting new model. What does this mean for filmmakers? MadCat's mission remains the same -we seek out the best films and videos directed by women from around the globe. We operate much the same as in the past - the call for submissions continues but we are just changing our schedule a bit. Our call will open in September and our final deadline is now in January 2009. We begin accepting submissions in early as September. MadCat will continue to curate between 9 and 13 programs annually - the difference is, all programs are eligible for the touring program, which will reach over 25 venues each Fall and Winter. Come and be a part of this thrilling new chapter in MadCat's exciting journey!
